Why we use plastisol

At Painter Shirts, we specialize in plastisol screen printing, the gold standard for durable, professional-grade custom apparel. Unlike direct-to-garment (DTG) or film transfer printing, plastisol allows for true ink control, color accuracy, and long-lasting wear — all critical when you're outfitting a hardworking crew.

Traditional silk screening gives us complete control over the printing process. Each Pantone color is applied individually, which means your logo is accurately reproduced every time, with vibrant colors and crisp edges. We also have the ability to adjust mesh counts and ink thickness, creating thinner ink layers that bond beautifully with the fabric. The result? A soft, breathable print that feels seamless and comfortable — even under the strain of daily job site wear.

Compare that to film transfers or DTG methods, which often apply the entire design in a single, heavy pass. These prints can sit thick on the fabric, leading to cracking, peeling, or discomfort — especially in warm weather when they tend to stick to your back. DTG and transfer prints also tend to fade faster, and can’t hold up to the demands of industrial laundry or frequent use.
